Singaporean businessman accused of defrauding NDC Chairman Ashie Moore placed on Ghana’s stop list

A letter from the High Court to the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) indicated that You Kang has a pending criminal case.
It instructed the GIS to place the accused person on all stop lists at every port of entry and exit in Ghana.
“The above-mentioned matter pending before Criminal Court ‘5’, presided over by HER LADYSHIP JUSTICE KIZITA NAA KOOWA QUARSHIE, refers:
“It is ordered that the accused person (TOH YOU KANG) should be placed on the stop list of all ports of entry and exit of the country,” part of the document reads.
The Singaporean businessman has filed a suit against the NDC regional chairman over an alleged US$800,000 payment for failed Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) contracts.
However, a statement issued by the lawyer of the NDC regional chairman, Gideon Tettey Tetteh, rejected the claims, describing them as false. The lawyer insisted that rather than Ashie Moore taking money from You Kang, it was You Kang who defrauded Moore and his business partners.
“The suspect is alleged to have defrauded Mr Ashie Moore and his partners of US$3 million. The suspect is also being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office for allegedly stealing US$2.8 million from Mr Ashie Moore and his partners.
“A petition has been submitted to the Attorney-General for the docket to be taken from the police, since it is beyond the threshold of the police. It is an absolute falsehood that an amount of US$800,000 has been paid to Mr Ashie Moore. The suspect rather swindled Mr Ashie Moore and his partners and caused damage to their businesses,” the statement issued on 28 June 2025 read.
Toh You Kang, named as the CEO and director of NSG Group, had earlier filed an application at the High Court in Accra, accusing the NDC regional chairman of taking US$800,000 in connection with a cable-supply contract with the ECG.
According to the writ, filed on 27 June 2025, You Kang claims he paid Ashie Moore the amount between 2023 and 2024 for a contract Moore had allegedly secured with ECG for the supply of electrical cables.
You Kang also accused Ashie Moore of human rights violations, alleging that he was invited to Ghana by Moore but ended up being subjected to “abuse, threats, and blackmail.”
