Simi reveals why she’s successful in the music industry

Nigerian female vocalist Simisola Kosoko better known as Simi has spoken out about the reason behind her success in the music industry.

The talented vocalist admitted that her success in the music business was largely due to the sacrifices made by the female musicians who came before her.

Simi pointed out that by shattering the status quo, those workaholic women made it possible for other women to thrive in a predominately male industry.

The mother of one made this known in a recent interview with African Folder.

Simi said: “There are women who have worked hard to damn the status quo.

“So, I won’t give myself much credit than for because I also benefitted from other women who came before me.”

In 2014, Simi transitioned from her previous career as a gospel performer to secular music.

She claimed in a previous interview that she stopped listening to gospel music because it wasn’t “lucrative.”
