Sierra Leone regrets using Qatar’s Banana Island for official Xmas card
The Sierra Leone Embassy to Switzerland and Permanent Mission to the United Nations has issued a statement explaining how a photo of Qatar was used on an official Christman/New Year card.
The Embassy in a press release dated December 27, 2021, said the mixup was a deeply regretted image selection/printing error.
The card was supposed to use a photo of Sierra Leone’s Banana Island located in the country’s west but it rather had the photo of Banana Island Resort Doha in Qatar.
Full press release on Banana Island error
The Sierra Leone Embassy to Switzerland and Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland wishes to register its regret for the use, on its Christmas/New Year card, of an image of Banana Island Resort Doha in Qatar instead of Banana Islands, a scenic and natural place of beauty consisting of three islands and forests and beaches along the coast of Yawri in the South-West part of the Freetown Peninsula in the Western Area of Sierra Leone. This was an inadvertent image selection/printing error which is greatly regretted.
