SHS students drown in swimming pool at Aplaku Hills

Two Senior High School students have drowned in a swimming pool at Lion of Judah Event Center at Aplaku Hills in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased are Oliver Tetteh, 17, a student of St. John’s Senior High School, and Christabel Agyekumwaa, a 19 -year old student of Saltpond SHS.

Josephine Amoah, mother of Christabel Agyekumwaa said her daughter left their residence at Kasoa New Market at around 9 am on Saturday after her family friend Oliver Tetteh came for her to accompany him to repair his phone at Kasoa.

She said both of them, however, failed to return to their various homes.

Josephine Amoah said around 7pm Monday evening, the Police in SCC, invited the family to the station where they broke the news to them that their Daughter Christabel and Oliver had been found dead in a swimming pool at Lion of Judah, a newly opened Event Center at Aplaku.

James Tetteh, father of the late Oliver Tetteh also said a lady who was in charge at the event center said, she had entered into a room to fetch live jackets for the two teenagers only for her to return to see both of them dead in the pool within one minute.

He’s called by the incident and has called on the police to thoroughly investigate the matter to establish whether the children died a natural death or not.

The bodies were subsequently retrieved and sent to the morgue, and a report was filed at the Police Station.
