Shatta Wale Emotional as “Godfather” Kofi Boat Faces FBI Fraud Allegations

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has publicly come to the defense of business mogul Kofi Boat, following reports of Boat’s arrest by the FBI in connection with an alleged $100 million fraud scheme.
Multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, that Kofi Boat, along with two other individuals identified as Agony and an unnamed accomplice, had been apprehended by the FBI regarding the substantial fraud allegations.
Shatta Wale, visibly emotional and shedding tears, took to Facebook Live on Thursday, June 19, 2025, to address the claims against Kofi Boat, whom he affectionately refers to as his “godfather.” During the live session, the popular musician vehemently denied that Kofi Boat is a fraudster, attributing the situation to a business deal that simply “went wrong.”
“God, if you are there, make people know that Kofi Boat is not a scammer. Herh! Kofi Boat. Mama Joyce, I make sorry. I feel bad charlie. Sake of Kofi, I no dey sleep,” Shatta Wale lamented in pidgin, expressing his profound distress and sleepless nights over the allegations.
He also extended his sympathy to Kofi Boat’s wife and children, visibly distraught at the thought of their plight. “I dey picture Kofi Boat in kiddies and I no dey fit. Who told you Kofi Boat is a scammer? It is just a business that went wrong. What do you mean? Do you mean that Kofi Boat will sit behind a computer and browse?” he questioned rhetorically.
Shatta Wale used the incident as a cautionary tale, reflecting on the unpredictable nature of business. “But that is how the world is. If you don’t take care, you can do one wrong business; that is why I am careful. That is why I don’t make friends anymore,” he added, highlighting his personal take-away from the developing situation.
The allegations against Kofi Boat have sent shockwaves through Ghana’s business and entertainment circles, and Shatta Wale’s tearful defense underscores the personal impact of the claims on those close to the embattled businessman.
