Senior Police Commissioner picked up over planned coup broadcast

A senior Commissioner of Police (COP) has been picked up by a combined team of National Security Secretariat and Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) operatives regarding his alleged role in the September ‘Coup plot’ to destabilize Ghana, MyNewsGh.com can authoritatively confirm.

The said COP is alleged to have been in close contact with the ‘coup plotters’ and had even been designated as the person to read out a broadcast to the nation.

We are unable to put out his name for security reasons.

This revelation came to the fore when police experts examined the phones and other communication gadgets of Dr Mac-Palm, together with Donya Kafui, alias Ezor, a blacksmith, and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, a freight manager after their arrest.

The said Police Commissioner, who only recently had his eyes on the police top job hails from the Ashanti Region and is expected to assist investigators get to the bottom of the “coup plot”

A deep throat source familiar with the new development told MyNewsGh.com that “He (police commissioner) is not being treated as a suspect yet. He has been invited to assist in the investigation based on the intercepted message exchanges.”

The conspirators have been jointly charged for conspiracy to commit crime, to wit, manufacturing of arms and ammunition and possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition without lawful authority.

Kafui and Mac-Palm were slapped with two extra charges — while Kafui faces additional charges of manufacturing six pistols and 22 explosives, Mac-Palm faces a further charge of possessing 22 explosives, six pistols and three hand grenades without lawful authority.

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital and his alleged accomplices were put before the Kaneshie District Court with an additional charge of treason weeks ago.

Togtether with Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Geshon Akpa, Warrant Officer Esther, Lance Corporals Seidu Abubakar, Solomon Ali and Sylvester Akankpewu, they are all facing charges ranging from conspiracy to commit treason, treason, conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunition as well as possession of explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse.
