Scores injured as gunmen open fire on a bus in Upper East Region

Scores of people were injured when gunmen are reported to have opened fire on a bus at Pusi-Namoo, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

According to a citinewsrrom.com report, the bus, traveling from Garu to Kumasi, was ambushed around 8:00 PM on Saturday January 11, 2025.

The injured have been transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for treatment.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but sources suggest it may be linked to the ongoing Bawku Conflict. The police have secured the crime scene and are investigating the incident.

In a related development, a violent clash in Bawku on Friday afternoon resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The confrontation occurred in the Kpalore-Gozesi area, leading to the arrest of four people and the seizure of eight assault rifles by security forces.

This latest incident brings the death toll to 41 since the conflict resurfaced in October 2024.
