Registrar of The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Kingsley Agyemang, had launched the second edition of the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz.
In a post sighted by www.africanentertainment.com on his official Facebook page, Mr Agyemang said
“To complement government’s efforts at ensuring that students acquire critical and independent thinking skills, s and are empowered to “succeed and adapt to this changing world through the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiative, I joined the people of Abuakwa South at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, today, to launch the second edition of the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz.”
He added that “in all, 75 JHS within the Abuakwa south municipal Educational Directorate will be competing for honours.”
“In my speech, I reiterated why we need a STEM-focused education to propel our economic growth just as was done by the ‘Asian tigers.’”
“I underscored how the implementation of a STEM-focused education system will benefit our younger population and our country in general.”
“Promoting STEM education, I added, will increase STEM graduates who will benefit from the opportunities created by the ever-growing STEM-related jobs, and will inadvertently grow the economy of our dear country.”
“The Regional Director of Education, Mrs Margarete Nsia-Asare, taking her turn, charged the students to take advantage of the quiz programme to show what they are capable of not only in the region but Ghana as whole.”
“The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Daniel Yeboah Hienno, for his part, said a lot is happening under the educational system presently and expressed optimism that Ghana’s educational system is positioned to develop internationally-minded and locally engaged ethical graduates capable of using innovative strategies, especially through STEM to turn the fortunes of the country around.”
“He lauded the quiz initiative, describing it as one of the best things that has ever happened in the area in terms of education. He was positive that the second edition will be just as successful as the first edition.”
