Sakawa boy beats girlfriend to death for refusing to give him money ‘client’ paid into her account

Obeta John, a 27-year-old man who is thought to be a yahoo/sakawa boy, has been arrested by police in Ogun State on suspicion that he killed his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari, in the Eredu Ishara neighborhood of the state.

On November 29, the suspect was taken into custody after the Ode-Remo divisional headquarters got a call from someone in trouble. He was accused of beating a Gateway Polytechnic Saapade HND1 Mass Communication student to death after locking her in his room.

SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command’s spokeswoman, said in a statement on November 30 that when officers got to the scene, they found the victim lying in a pool of her own blood.

She was taken quickly to State Hospital Ishara, but the doctor there said she was dead. The suspect, who was from Enugu State, was quickly arrested.

“When Obeta John, the suspect, was questioned by the police, he told them that he is an internet fraudster and that some of the money from one of his clients was paid into the account of his dead girlfriend, who refused to give it to him.

He also said that they got into a fight over the money, which led to the girl’s death,” the spokesperson said.
