Sahara Royal Gold CEO Allegedly Defrauds Jamila Home
The Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Royal Gold Refinery Limited Godwin Kwaku Amekuedi has allegedly duped prestigious antique furniture outfit, Jamila Home to the tune of C1,500,000 ($200,000).
In June, the gold refinery company CEO bought items worth the said amount and consequently issued a cheque to cater for the bill.
However, the Access Bank Ghana cheque with number 000046, due for payment on July 11, 2022 was dishonored; a criminal act under recent Bank of Ghana regulations.
Thereafter, the prestigious furniture company approached the buyer to inform him about the illegality of the cheque and he promised to pay part of the bill and later pay the outstanding balance.
But the furniture company has categorically stated that the buyer has since failed to honor his word after several vain promises and letters from lawyers of Jamila Home.
Consequently, lawyers of Jamila Home (Crown Legal Bureau) served the culprit a Writ of sermons from the High/Circuit Court of Justice, yet, the Gold refinery CEO keeps pushing the goal post regarding payment for the items he purchased about four months ago.
The police prosecutor handling the matter, who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the culprit keeps promising that he will pay back in two weeks; a promise he has failed to honor the past few months.
