SAD VIDEO: Referee runs for his life as students chase him at GUSA Games

It appears some university students have taken cues from the violence that occurred at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday if a video circulating on social media is anything to go by.

A video which is in circulation on various social media platforms has some disgruntled students chasing after a referee after he booked one of their players in a football match at the on-going GUSA Games.

The incident, according to reports occurred during a match between the University of Ghana and University of Development Studies.

During the match, a player of one of the institution was booked by the referee after a cynical challenge on his opponent.

The decision by the referee angered some of the students who violently pursued him.

The referee initially tried to calm the situation but took to his heels upon sensing danger.

However, security officials present quickly intervened to avert any trouble.

Some of the students were arrested and handcuffed by the police.

The unfortunate incident is a slight dent on the 2020 GUSA which had up until that point been violent free.
