Sack Julien Lopetegui – West Ham protest for dismissal of Spanish coach after strange Kudus substitution

West Ham United fans have lashed out at head coach Julien Lopetegui for substituting Mohammed Kudus at halftime during their stalemate against Brentford on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

The fans asserted that the manager made the wrong decision by subbing off the Ghanaian, who was their best player of the half.

Some further called for the Spanish gaffer’s sacking, claiming that he lost the plot.

According to the manager, Kudus’ controversial substitution was a tactical decision and was in the team’s best interest.

“It was a tactical decision. I was thinking we needed that. I was thinking that was better for the team and we needed these kinds of changes. The second half we worked as a team,” Lopetegui explained after the match.

West Ham United, after conceding an early goal in the first half, fought back to salvage a point following Tomas Soucek’s second-half strike.

Kudus, after failing to score in the game, extended his goal drought to eight games in all competitions.

He has one goal involvement after providing an assist in the Hammers’ 1-0 win over Bournemouth in the EFL Cup.
