Policeman gives blow-by-blow account of how trotro drivers gave him the beating of his life

The uniformed policeman who was captured in a viral video being brutally assaulted by a mob believed to be some commercial drivers and their mates , has given a vivid account of his ordeal in the hands of his attackers, MyNewsGh.com reports.

According to the policeman with the Odorkor Police Station , he was only doing his mandated job when the group pounced on him and gave him the beating of his life because he had refused to allow them do what he observed was a violation of the road regulation act at Weija in the Greater Accra region.

He revealed that the incident occurred on Thursday March 14 2019 after a trotro driver tried picking passengers in the middle of the road obstructing other road users and resulting in a traffic buildup.

The beaten cop indicated that he went to the scene to remedy the situation but met an accident after motorbike ran into the rear of a private car. While he was at it, the trotro driver who had earlier parked in the middle of the road almost run over him so he sort the services of a motorbike and chased and at some point managed to cross him and tried finding out why he was driving carelessly.

In the process there were heated verbal exchanges leading to the driver and his colleagues pouncing on the poor police offer and beating him to the pulp.

Subsequently, the situation was brought under control after he radioed for reinforcement and the vehicle towed to the Odorkor police station where a one Warrant Officer with the military is reported to have showed up and claimed ownership.

Sources indicate that the owner has been directed to produce the driver and his mate among other persons said to be on the run for attacking the officer in line of his duty to assist them in their investigations.
