Republic Day: I salute Ghanaians – Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has saluted all Ghanaians especially, senior citizens, as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
Ghanaians marked the Republic Day celebration on Sunday July 1. July 1 is the day on which Ghana became an independent republic in 1960.
Mr Akufo-AAddo in a statement said: “On behalf of Government I wish all Ghanaians a Happy Republic Day celebration. I salute and pay tribute, in particular, to all senior citizens in every part of the country today [Sunday July 1], on this day, which is set aside to celebrate them.
“Let us remind ourselves that the Founders of our nation chose the Black Stars as part of our national colours for a purpose.
“They envisaged us as a shining example to the Black peoples of the world what a free, dedicated, enterprising, Ghanaian people can do to build a society the equal of any, anywhere on the face of the planet. Let us be proud and doing. Our destiny beckons.”
