REGSEC-MUSEC intervention sets Nkwanta SHS on path to recovery-Nkwanta South, MCE

In a decisive move to address recent disturbances at Nkwanta Senior High School, the Oti Regional Minister, Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong, together with the Municipal Chief Executive of Nkwanta South, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi, paid a visit to the school today.
The purpose of their visit was to gather first-hand information on the riot that occurred last month following the confiscation of students’ mobile phones — a measure taken by teachers to curb declining academic performance and reinforce discipline. Both leaders expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident and urged Headmaster Mr. Solomon Bagmang, along with the management and staff, to work together to promote discipline and professionalism within the school.
They were accompanied by the Regional and Municipal Directors of Education, who shared their perspectives on effectively addressing the challenges at hand. Additionally, members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) engaged in meaningful discussions, presenting their findings from ongoing investigations into the root causes of the unrest.
As part of the engagement, staff and students met separately to allow for open, candid dialogue and the development of practical solutions to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
This collaborative approach reflects a strong commitment to restoring order, improving educational standards, and ensuring the well-being of students across the region.
The student leadership, on behalf of the entire student body, assured the delegation of their resolve to uphold discipline and avoid further acts of disobedience.
The Regional Minister further emphasized that addressing key infrastructural challenges — including the fencing of the school, upgrading dormitories and the dining hall, and completing outstanding projects — remains a top priority and will soon receive the necessary attention to enhance teaching and learning.
