Regional Minister Urges Unity and Discipline at Nkwanta Senior High School

Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong, Regional Minister for Oti Region, led a delegation to Nkwanta Senior High School on June 12, 2025, to address the recent impasse between students and staff. The visit aimed to restore harmony and chart a path forward for academic excellence.
In his remarks, Minister Gyapong cautioned teachers against exploiting students for personal gain, emphasizing that such actions undermine the integrity of education and erode trust within the school community. He appealed to teachers and administrators to foster unity and collaboration—critical pillars for improving academic performance and enhancing the school’s image.
The Minister expressed concern over the lack of cohesion among staff and inadequate communication, both of which, he noted, have negatively affected the school’s reputation. He urged the Headmaster and teachers to set aside their differences and work together in the interest of the students.
Minister Gyapong also highlighted infrastructural challenges, particularly the absence of a fence wall, which he said hampers effective supervision. He directed the Regional Director of Education to formally request the Ministry of Education’s support in addressing this issue, not just at Nkwanta Senior High, but in all senior high schools across the region without perimeter fencing.
Speaking directly to the students, the Minister underscored the importance of discipline, academic focus, and adherence to the school’s code of conduct. “A brighter future is built on discipline,” he affirmed.
Reiterating his commitment to the progress of the Oti Region, Minister Gyapong called on all stakeholders to work collectively towards creating a disciplined, unified, and high-performing educational environment.
