Rawlings’ unmatched integrity made him a bad person to Ghanaians – Leila Djansi

Filmmaker Leila Djansi has asked the Ghanaian media to desist from the commentary suggesting that the late former President of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings had a bad side.

According to her, Rawlings had an unmatched integrity and led by example and that is what earned him a bad name.

To the London-based film maker, It’s unhealthy to refer to people who enforce discipline, integrity, hard work and selflessness as difficult or bad.

Leila Djansi indicated that the late former President rescued the perishing and cared for the dying and that should not make him a bad person because the Ghanaian during the period were going through turmoil under leaders who were supposed to ensure comfortability of the citizenry.

“Rawlings SAVED Ghana from hunger and all the corruption wrought under Acheampong. There was hunger and starvation. He had to do what was necessary. He punished the guilty. If that’s what made him bad, well… My father was also a Flt Lt. He was part of that event. Rawlings rescued the perishing.”

She noted that Ghana will not get such a leader in its history again.

“Ghana will never ever see his kind again. Every plane that flew above our heads brought the chant “JJ Rawlings” from kids. He was a legend!”

I’m not sure I understand or appreciate some of the Ghanaian journalists and their duplicitous commentary. JJ Rawlings had a good and bad side? What y’all mean? What bad side?

His unmatched integrity? Leadership by example?

He was rare and he was such a dreamy god!

Rest Well! You will be missed and never forgotten!
