Rashid Sumaila powers Kuwaiti side to Super Cup win

Ghana’s Rashid Sumaila on Thurday helped his Kuwaiti side Al Qadsiya clinch the Kuwaiti Super cup after beating Al Kuwait by a lone goal.

Rashid Sumaila lasted the entire duration of the game and was a valuable presence at the back for his side sniffing away every danger.

It was a much balanced game as it happens mostly with final games with none of the sides too keen to commit more men forward as the two teams canceled each other out in the first stanza of the game.

But the match sprung to life in the second half when Al Qadsiya broke the deadlock through their Brazilian import James Dens in the 72 minute of the game to send the crowd into raptures.

Al Kuwaiti huffed and puffed for the elusive equalizer but the resolute defence of Al Qadsiya will never drop their guard as Rashid Sumaila and his side went away with the trophy.

It is Rashid Sumaila’s second diadem for his Kuwaiti club after returning from his abortive loan spell at Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

He first helped Al Qadsiya win the Crown Prince Cup in 2018.
