The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appears to be on another season of settling some chieftaincy issues in some of the paramountcies in his kingdom.
The Asantehene, on Monday, August 19, 2024, chaired the Asanteman Council meeting to adjudicate stool disputes involving Berekum, Dua Yaw Nkwanta, Awua Dumase, Sabronum, and Denyase traditional areas.
The case of the Denyase Traditional Area, however, ended in tears for the Paramount Queen of Denyase (Denyasehemaa) Nana Adutwiwaa Bonin III, as the King of Asante declared she was not a royal.
The Asantehene, after giving the history of the Denyase stool, reprimanded Nana Adutwiwaa Bonin III for the way she handled an impasse.
Before the Asantehene could even finish his statement, the queen mother walked towards him, fell on the ground, and started weeping.
A video shared by Opemsuo Radio shows the guards of the king lifting the Denyasehemaa from the floor as she wept.
The queen mother could be seen wailing, with her hands on her head.
According to opemsuo.com, a committee was set up to dig up the truth after the royalty status of Denyasehemaa was challenged by Achiasebaapanin Nana Akua Afriyie, who invoked the Great Oath in support of her stance.
Her position was firmly rebutted by the queen in a counter-invocation of the Great Oath.
Nana Afriyie denied having any blood relations with Denyasehemaa but the latter said otherwise.
The Asanteman Council has now ordered the parties to make available their family trees for review by the committee.
