Provide details on GHC2.75bn procurement savings – GACC petitions Ofori-Atta
The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition and 20 other Civil Society Groups have petitioned en-bloc the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, to provide further and better particulars on the over GH¢2bn purportedly saved through the curtailing of sole sourced and restrictive tendering contract.
The request is in accordance with the provisions of Article 21(f) of the 1992 Constitution.
Government made savings of GH¢2.75 billion in the economy by reviewing contracts that were either sole-sourced or procured through restrictive tender for the last 31 months, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta told parliament in the Mid-Year Budget Review he presented in July.
Meanwhile, no details have been released on the said contracts neither has there been any information on which specific procurement the savings were made on.
But a statement by the Coalition said:”the Public Procurement Authority is obliged to publish the restrictive tendering and single source procurement contracts on its website,” emphasizing “our interest is in only those contracts from which the savings were made.”
