A white garment prophet was recently sentenced to 12 months in prison for carəssing his client’s privatəs and f0ndling her brəasts during a ‘healing’ session.
He will, however, only have to stay in jail for six months because he was good during the first six months of his sentence.
Simbarashe Shereni, age 32, was charged with indecent assault under Section 67 (1) (a) I of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. He went before Ms. Prisca Manhibi, a magistrate in Mutare.
Ms Mazvita Kadenha prosecuted.
Shereni pleaded guilty.
Ms Kadenha said on November 9 and near Moffat (Moses Mvenge) Hall in Mutare, Shereni unlawfully caressəd Christine Munyanyiwa’s (21) privatəs and stomach.
He touched her breasts as well.
“On November 9, the complainant went to Shereni’s shrine near Moffat Hall to seek spiritual assistance from him. Shereni ordered the complainant to fetch some firewood to heat some stones for steaming. He covered the complainant with a cloth and steamed her.
“After that, Shereni told the person who had complained to kneel down in front of him. He held the complainant’s skirt and panties and pulled them down. He touched the bottom of the complainant’s stomach and her private parts.
“The accused also touched the complainant’s breasts, saying that he was getting rid of the evil spirits in her stomach, breasts, and private parts. “This was done against her will,” Ms. Kadenha said.
“God’s spirit showed me that she had spells (zvitsinga) in her body that were preventing her life from going as far as it could. I wanted to help her so that she could move forward in her life. Even though I didn’t touch them, I took the spells off of her breasts. The only thing I did was tell her what to do. Then I took something furry and alive out of her private parts and threw it in the fire.
Shereni said, “I didn’t ask for money because I’m only a servant of God.”
He said that there were two other customers at the shrine when the complainant got there. But when he kissed her, they were both alone.
