Prof Naana Jane reaffirms govt’s commitment to promoting bilateral and multilateral relations

Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has announced steps taken by the Mahama-led administration to strengthen Ghana’s bilateral and multilateral relations.

She made this known during her meeting with Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdalfatah Ahmed Khalil Alsatarri, adding that the meeting underscored Ghana’s commitment to solidarity with Palestine.

Prof Naana expressed her honour in working closely with President John Dramani Mahama on critical diplomatic matters.

In a post shared on X on January 10, 2025, the vice president wrote, “During my couple of days in office as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, I have had the honour of joining HE President Mahama in receiving many delegations and dealing with important bilateral and multilateral issues. Today it has been my privilege to receive in my office the Palestinian Envoy to Ghana, His Excellency Abdalfatah Ahmed Khalil.”

Prof Naana Jane reiterated Ghana’s fundamental principles of solidarity and cooperation with Palestine, both as a nation and as a political party.

“In our meeting, we recommitted our agreed philosophical foundations of our relationship as a political party and as a country,” she added.

According to the vice president, during the meeting, she reflected on her tenure at UNESCO, specifically recalling the historic admission of Palestine to the organisation.

“I recalled my valuable experiences at UNESCO, particularly during the period of Palestine’s admission to the organisation. Today’s visit allowed for a reaffirmation of the established position and commitment of Ghana in relation to the people of Palestine.

“Finally, I would like to thank His Excellency Abdalfatah Ahmed Halil for the wonderful gift given on behalf of the people of Palestine,” she added.
