Prisons Service PRO sets record straight on alleged assault on Agradaa

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, Chief Superintendent Adamu Abdul Latif, has dismissed reports suggesting that convict Nana Agradaa has been assaulted in custody.
Speaking to Adom TV, C/Supt. Latif clarified that Agradaa was officially received into custody at the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison on Saturday, following the completion of necessary administrative procedures.
Although she was sentenced on Wednesday, delays due to documentation and the observation of a public holiday accounted for her arrival at the facility three days later.
Addressing viral rumours that the convicted preacher was attacked by former victims of her controversial ‘Sika Gari’ scheme in prison, C/Supt. Latif firmly refuted the claims.
“There is no truth to that. The prison is a highly regulated institution where the rights of inmates are strictly protected. Not even prison officers have the liberty to physically assault inmates, how much more fellow inmates?”
He added that Agradaa is being treated like any other inmate and is serving her sentence peacefully.
The Prisons Service is currently conducting a standard assessment to determine whether her personal conditions require a possible transfer to another correctional facility.
