17-year-old son kills father after exchanging blows at home

A young man from the County of Nandi is in police custody after killing his father in what is said to have been a quarrel. The two exchanged blows which turned out to be fatal for the 42-year-old dad of the boy.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the two had a bitter quarrel last evening before they descended on each other. The incident took place in Kapkoros which is found in Nandi County on Monday evening.

The father died as a result of an injury inflicted on the head by a blunt rod. The son picked up the rod during the fight and then hit his father with it. The father was rushed to Miteitei Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries yesterday.

The DCI has not yet established what the quarrel was about between the two family members. The young man is, however, said to be of not good character, according to neighbours.

The incident shocked the rest of the quiet village where the man was killed. The young man has since been apprehended and he will be arraigned in court soon.
