Portable remains in Police custody as he fails to meet bail conditions

Controversial street singer Habeeb Okikiola better known as Portable has remained detained in police custody due to his failure to comply with the terms of his release on bond.

He was arrested after failing to complete an amount of N27 million he incurred when he took a G-Wagon from an automobile dealer promising to complete the payment later.

According to Benjamin Hudenyin, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police CommandPortable won’t be released from custody unless he can provide a trustworthy surety.

He said: “He has presented no reliable surety yet so he (Portable) is still with us.”

Portable’s arrest was due to an incomplete payment for a luxury vehicle, a Mercedes Benz GLE, which he had partially paid for.

The singer had initially made a down payment of N14 million for the N27 million vehicle and left with it, promising to settle the remaining amount later.

However, when the dealer demanded the outstanding balance, Portable countered, alleging that the vehicle was defective.

The dealer, seeking resolution, requested either the return of the vehicle or the completion of the payment, neither of which Portable fulfilled.

During the execution of the arrest warrant, Portable made a futile attempt to evade the police by leaping over a gate’s fence.
