Police officer perished in tragic accident at Kantanka Junction

A police officer tragically lost his life during night duty at a police checkpoint situated at Kantanka Junction on the Winneba-Kasoa Road.

The incident transpired on Friday, June 21, 2024, around 11 PM.

According to a UTV report, the fatal accident involved three vehicles: a Kia Truck with registration number GR-6419-N, a trailer with registration plate GE-5468-22, and a fuel tanker registered as GY-2186-13.

The calamity unfolded when the over-speeding Kia Truck, en route to the Mankessim Road, collided with the police checkpoint barricade.

The truck then rammed into both the stationary trailer and fuel tanker parked along the thoroughfare, leading to the tragic demise of the police officer who was diligently working at the checkpoint.

It is believed that the driver of the Kia Truck had fallen asleep at the wheel.
