A reliable police source told the GNA that the robbery attack happened at Kobre, a community along the stretch around 2000hours Sunday July 6, 2025, when the traders were returning from the Yeji market to Atebubu.

The police highway patrol team chanced on the robbers which led to the exchange of firearms, the source stated, adding that one of the robbers was able to escape with a gunshot wound.

One of the robbery victims, also a trader, told the GNA that the body of Mohammed Suraji Raweisu, 38 years old and popularly known as “Suker” a livestock keeper had since been buried according to the Islamic faith.

He spoke to the GNA on condition of anonymity, saying the armed robbers who had laid ambush fired sporadic gunshots which hit the deceased who was sitting behind the driver.
