Police gun down notorious armed robber at Kasoa

Police in Kasoa in the Central Region have shot and killed a 32-year-old notorious armed robber who is said to be living in Kasoa Zongo and terrorizing residents.

The deceased who is popularly known as Abanga was said to be in the company of two other criminals and attempted to rob a susu collection company at Djan Nkwanta near Bawjiase, but the other two managed to escape, MyNewsGh.com has learnt.

Items retrieved include a locally manufactured pistol, two machetes and two ammunitions.

Briefing journalists, the Kasoa Divisional Police Commander ACP Adjem Agyemang said the police patrol team received a distress call that some suspected armed robbers attempting to break into a susu collection company at about 1am on Friday and proceeded to the scene.

He explained that when the police got there the deceased and his colleagues engaged the police in a shot out but the police fired four rounds of ammunition and succeeded in killed Abanga but the other two managed to escaped.

ACP Agyemang stated that the body of the deceased has since been taken to the morgue for autopsy.

He appealed to residents in Kasoa and its surrounding towns to endeavour to report anyone they are suspicious off for police to deal with them.
