The Ghana Police Service has debunked media reports that Malik Basintale, the deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been arrested.
In a post shared on their Facebook page on Thursday, September 5, 2024, the police denied the claims that Malik Basintale has been arrested over comments suggesting that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s favourite meal is pork.
“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to a claim circulating on some social media platforms to the effect that Malik Basintale has been declared wanted by the Police. We wish to categorically state that the claim is false,” it noted.
On Sep 1, 2024, Malik Basintale stated during a campaign that pork is the favourite meal of Dr Bawumia, although he is a Muslim.
“Alhaji Bawumia’s favourite meat is pork despite being a Muslim,” he stated.
