Police clash with residents over WEE; one dead

One person has been confirmed dead while two others including a policeman identified as Corporal Seth Agbango have been injured after police clashed with locals in an attempt to arrest drug peddlers.

The incident MyNewsGh.com, gathered occurred at Adomfe a town near Juaso in Asante Akim South District of the Ashanti Region.

According to Detective Inspector Augustine Kyei, sic men all of Divisional Task Force  at Konongo acting upon an information to the effect that a  known narcotic dealer  one Kofi Ampomah was in possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and therefore moved in to effect an arrest.

He revealed that in the process,  the suspect put up a fierce resistance and were later joined by a mob made of the youth of Adomfe who attacked the Police and attempted disarming Corporal  Seth Agbango but did not succeed.

The team managed to arrest suspect Kwame Boateng and Kofi Asamoah and also retrieved 341 wrappers of substance suspected to be Indian hemp, a gallon of Akpteshie mixed with the substance popularly called “LAKKAH” and two and half compressed leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The mob also vandalized  the tail light and back windshield  of the service Vehicle.

Suspect Kofi Ampomah who was bleeding profusely after being hit by a stone in the occiput was rushed to Konongo Odumasi Hospital for treatment but died shortly on arrival.

Corporal  Agbango is currentlu on admission at First Klass Hospital receiving treatment whilst the  body of deceased has deposited at stewards Hospital Mortuary at  Yawkwei for preservation pending autopsy .

Meanwhile, suspect Kwame Boateng who is an accomplice is in police  custody assisting with investigations.
