As part of efforts to prevent a breakdown of law and order, the Lagos State Police Command on Monday deployed its operatives in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja.
MyNigeria learnt that those deployed included Area Commanders, Squadron Commanders, Tactical Unit Commanders and Divisional Police Officers.
The entrance of the assembly complex is currently flooded with police vehicles stationed strategically and manned by gun-wielding officers.
This is taking place days after the impeached Speaker of the assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, held a press conference where he rubbished his removal.
Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency 1, also claimed that he’s still the speaker of the assembly even though the position is currently occupied by Mojisola Meranda who was voted in by a majority of the assembly members.
The members have since issued a warning to Obasa to tread the path of peace and not heat the polity.
Obasa, who recently returned to the country from the US, also addressed claims that he has an ambition to become the governor of Lagos State in 2027.
According to him, “Having the ambition to become the governor of a state is not a sin. Is it? However, I said on the floor of the House when the budget was presented that I have no thought for governorship, but that does not mean that I’m not qualified or I lack experience. I still maintain that position.”
