Photos: Man brutalised for stealing TV in chief’s bedroom

A suspected thief who allegedly stole a flat screen television from Assin Brofoyedu chief’s bedroom has been beaten mercilessly by residents in the community.

According to information gathered by TheNewsGH.com from Adom news, the Chief of Assin Brofoyedu, Nana Kwaku Agyepong II, attended a NADMO educational programme at a durbar ground in the same community but returned to meet his room ransacked.

The chief explained that an amount of Ghc200 and a flat-screen TV were stolen from his bedroom while another Ghc300 was allegedly stolen from a next room in the same palace, which belongs to the brother of the chief, Kwame Penya.

The youth of the community who were not pleased with the turn of events vowed to fish out the perpetrator behind the thievery incident.

A few minutes later, the suspected thief was indeed apprehended as promised by the youth.

The stolen TV was retrieved from a room which belongs to a friend of the suspect in the outskirts of the community.

The suspect whose name is currently unknown sustained serious degrees of injuries on the forehead, ear, chest, and hand with blood oozing from the nose.

The suspect was almost killed as a result of the beatings received because the Assin Fosu police delayed for about an hour after they were called by the Adom News team.

Both the suspect and his friend who kept the stolen items in his room have been arrested by the police to assist in investigating the matter.

The main suspect is currently receiving treatment under a police escort.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the community, Nana Kwaku Agyapong II, whose properties were stolen, pledged to form a watchdog committee in the town as a measure of reducing the increasing crime rate in the community.
