PHOTOS: Herdsmen engage farmer in fierce gunfire exchanges

Six herdsmen engaged a farmer in a gun battle at Agogo Astrawaso in the Asante Agogo district in the Ashanti region after a failed attempt to burn down the farmer’s cottage.

Checks by Adom News revealed the six herdsmen were about setting the framer identified as Jacob’s cottage ablaze when he went to the farm but arrived just on time before the mission could be executed.

In an interview with Adom News, Mr Jacob stated the herdsmen upon sighting him begun firing shots at him.

“I also in retaliation fired back with my locally manufactured gun and in the process shot two of the herdsmen even though I also sustained injuries. But I am feeling better now.” He said.

The Assembly man for Bebome electoral area, Mr Navropeh Ahmed Laryah also told Adom News he reported the case to the police just when he heard it through a phone call.

“I was at a workshop when I heard the news but left the place to go and lodge a complaint at the police station that immediately went to the scene and arrested the herdsmen.” He noted.

Mr Jacob is currently receiving treatment with the two wounded herdsmen also arrested by the police but receiving treatment at the Hospital in handcuffs.
