PHOTOS: 18 year old arrested, for ‘chopping’ woman wrist

The Northern regional police command has arrested one Imoro Abubakar suspected to have inflicted machete wound on forty (40) year woman, a resident of Kpano-Nanton in the Savulugu municipality.

The police public relations officer, Dsp Mohammed Ussif Tanko said the suspect who was welding a machete attacked and almost chop off the left wrist of the aged woman.

He said “Mohammed Ziblim of H/No. KPV 12, Kpano – Nanton called at the station and reported that at about 9:00am whilst at their house, suspect Imoro Abubakari rushed in welding a machete, attacked and almost severed off the left wrist of his sister in-law, Faiza Abdellah and that victim was rushed to the Savelugu Municipal hospital for treatment”.

According to him the Police quickly proceeded to the hospital, where they met doctors and other medical staff attending to the victim at the theatre.

Dsp Ussif Tanko said the suspect Imoro Abubakari, 18 years old was later arrested by community members and brought to the police station.

“Suspect in his caution statement admitted the offence and stated that victim Faiza Abdellah, 40 years had used stick to hit his mother and her hand got broken as a result and that he took a machete to the house of Faiza in retaliation. Suspect further stated that he lives in Tamale but came to Kpano after receiving the information on the alleged assault on his mother”. This according to the suspect was in retaliation.

He said the suspect clearly indicated in his statement that “as he was approaching with the cutlass in hand victim took to her heels and that action made him to suspect that she might be his mother’s assailant. Suspect then chased victim and inflicted a machete wound on victim rendering her left wrist to hang only by a thin piece of flesh”.

Dsp Ussif Tanko enumerated that the suspect had been detained in police custody, to assist further investigations.
