The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.
This visit follows Farotimi’s recent release from the Ekiti State Correctional Facility.
Obi shared a post on his social media page on Friday, acknowledging Farotimi’s high spirits despite his recent ordeal. He described him as a symbol of courage in the face of adversity.
“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation,” Obi wrote.
The former Anambra State governor also wished Farotimi a fruitful and productive year as they continued their shared pursuit of national development.
Entertainer Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, also visited Farotimi at his home following his release.
Farotimi was arrested on December 3, 2024, by officiers of the Ekiti State Police Command after a petition was filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Afe Babalola.
Babalola alleged that Farotimi defamed him in a 116-page book titled “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System”.
After spending 20 days in detention, Farotimi was released
