Pentecostal Council to organize prayers against gay rights

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) is set to embark on a national prayer crusade opposing the same-sex marriage in Ghana.

The three days prayer event is to raise the consciousness of public opinion about grave social choices of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in Ghana.

General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev. Emmanuel T. Barrigah disclosed this in an interview with Adom News Tuesday.

He said homosexuality is demonic thus it is about time Christians pray ceaselessly for God to intervene.

Mr. Barrigah believes the pressure from Western countries to get Ghana and other African countries to embrace same-sex marriages are part of a bigger scheme to dominate the continent.

The GPCC General Secretary said even the European Court on Human Right recently ruled unanimously against LGBT right so they will not allowed any person to mislead the country.

He told Adom News reporter, Kofi Nkansah that, though they will show love to gays and lesbians, they wont support it legalization.

Rev. Emmanuel T. Barrigah said the prayers will be held nationwide between June 30 and July 2, 2018.

Same-sex relations are illegal in 36 Commonwealth member states, including nine that have a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

In Ghana, a law against ‘unnatural carnal knowledge’ is interpreted as criminalising same-sex sexual encounters, especially between two males.
