Pastor Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah Meets Boxer Joseph Sackey After Viral Shorts Incident

The Founder and General Overseer of Believers Worship Center, Pastor Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, has finally met Ghanaian boxer Joseph Sackey, who gained significant social media attention on June 14, 2025, for wearing shorts adorned with the church leader’s image during his “Battle of the Beasts” bout against Pakistani boxer Abdul Khan.
Sackey became a viral topic not just for his defeat against Khan, but largely due to his unconventional ring attire. He entered the ring sporting blue shorts featuring a sticker of Adom Kyei-Duah’s face, the General Overseer of Believers Worship Center.
In a video that has since circulated widely, Adom Kyei-Duah addressed his congregation about the incident, stating, “He’s not a member of the Philadelphia family but he has massive love for me, that is why he placed my sticker on his shorts.” He reciprocated the sentiment, adding that he now also holds great affection for the boxer because of this gesture.
Sackey’s decision to wear Adom Kyei-Duah’s sticker was widely interpreted as a display of spiritual preparedness for the match. However, this spiritual show did not translate into a victory for the boxer. Sackey himself attributed his defeat to the referee, claiming he tripped and the fight was prematurely stopped.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions across online platforms. While some have praised Adom Kyei-Duah’s acknowledgment and reciprocal gesture towards the boxer, others have questioned his motives and the implications of such endorsements in sports.
