Palm wine tapper found dead by roadside in Akyem Subi

A 45-year-old palm wine tapper, Kwasi Awokye, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances along the roadside between Akyem Subi and Nkwantanang in the Eastern Region.

The lifeless body was discovered on Saturday, April 19, 2025, leaving residents of the Subi community in shock and mourning.

Confirming the incident, Ebenezer Akoten Mensah, Assemblyman for the Subi Electoral Area, said the death has deeply unsettled the community. He described Awokye as a well-known figure, though his personal and family life remained largely private.

“There were no visible injuries on the body, so we suspect his death might be linked to an underlying health condition, but we are waiting for the authorities to confirm,” the Assemblyman noted.

Police have since launched investigations to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
