‘Pained’ Naana Brown cries on TV over divorce

Kumawood actress, Naana Brown became visibly emotional on television when her husband, Nana Acheampong, also known as Santiago, expressed uncertainty about the permanence of their marriage.

During a conversation, Santiago conveyed that the future is unpredictable, and thus, he could not guarantee that divorce would never be a part of their lives.

On The Delay Show which was aired on May 25, 2024 and monitored by GhanaWeb, the host, Delay, inquired if Santiago foresaw any potential end to their relationship.

He replied in Twi, “Like any normal couple, we have our disagreements at home. I cannot predict if we will ever part ways through divorce. I’m simply facing reality because the future is unknown.

“When we first met, she questioned whether I loved her. I answered ‘no,’ which made her cry, but at that time, I was unsure. Now, I’m confident in our love for each other, yet the future remains uncertain.”

Naana, however, did not agree with Santiago’s stance. She maintained a hopeful outlook, believing that divorce would not be a part of their journey together.

Overcome with emotion, she began to cry, expressing that Santiago’s comments had wounded her deeply, suggesting a lack of trust.

“I deeply cherish my husband and I am committed to staying by his side until death parts us. The thought of divorce has never crossed my mind, and should it arise, I will remain steadfast. I’m not even sure why I’m crying, but I am overwhelmed with emotion. The idea that we might divorce, as implied by my husband, has caused me great pain. It makes me fear that he might disappoint me someday,” she told Delay in Twi.

Naana Brown, originally from Accra, moved to Kumasi in 2009. Santiago, a well-known disc jockey and broadcaster, was working as a presenter at Solid FM and was also involved in acting at the time. The two met on a movie set six months after Naana Brown’s relocation.

The couple tied the knot in 2014. Naana became pregnant during their courtship. They are now parents to three children and are anticipating the arrival of another.
