Over 500 rendered homeless after police eviction at Gomoa Buduburam

Five breastfeeding mothers collapsed while over 500 residents of Suncity, a suburb of Gomoa Buduburam have been left stranded following eviction by police officers over a  litigated land.

The incident happened on Friday, March 31, 2023 morning.

Residents lament that they were not given any notice or a time to relocate from the area.

They were evicted from their houses by the litigant identified as SNBB under the supervision of a task force and police.

Personal belongings of the affected persons were thrown out of their rooms and entrances locked with fresh padlocks provided by the litigant.

The litigant claims to have won a court case against property owners of the area.

Some stranded residents in an interview said they have nowhere to go hence will sleep in market centres and any other place that can accommodate them.

Meanwhile, a livid District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Solomon Darko Quarm accused Central East Regional Police Command of acting unprofessionally.

According to him, Owner of the land failed to serve the Assembly and used dubious way to evict the occupant, adding that the eviction was done without the notice of the District Assembly.
