She also disclosed that the region recorded a total of 14,887 teenage pregnancies over the three-year period, according to a report by myjoyonline.com.

“3,999 pregnancies and 388 abortion cases were recorded in 2021; 4,058 pregnancies and 351 abortions in 2022; 3,492 pregnancies and 217 abortions in 2023; and 3,328 pregnancies and 282 cases involving the use of various family planning methods in 2024,” she noted, the report said.
She also disclosed that family planning service coverage in 2024 increased to 39.58 per cent of the target group women and girls of reproductive age — up from 36.45 per cent in 2023.
Rita Ansong added that the family planning acceptor rate for 2024 saw a marginal increase of 0.08 per cent compared to the previous year.
She attributed the improvement in family planning indicators to stronger collaboration with partner organisations, consistent supply of family planning commodities, and the re-registration of users of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC).
