Oil jetty resumes operations after repairs at Tema port
After repairing and reinstalling the LPG Loading ARM, which broke during a rainstorm on May 25, 2018, Oil Jetty, an off-shore breakwater which receives fuel imports at the Tema Port has finally resumed operations.
The supply of Liquefied Petroleum (LPG) at the Oil Jetty got suspended following the incident.
A statement released by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) indicated that a “team of Engineers from the Ghana Port and Harbours Authority (GPHA) dismounted the damaged Loading Arm for repair works at the Dry Dock in the hope that they will complete the repairs within one week of the commencement of work.
The incident however sparked concerns of a potential gas shortage in the system, but the NPA relied on LPG Production from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), to ensure there was no disruption to gas supply.”
It added that the Jetty had resumed full operation since 10th June, 2018.

OIL JETTY IN TEMA PORT RESUMES OPERATIONS AFTER REPAIR WORKS AND REINSTALLATION OF LPG LOADING ARM
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) wishes to announce to the general public that, the Oil Jetty at Tema Port has resumed operations, following repair and subsequent reinstallation of the LPG Loading ARM, which broke during a storm.
A team of Engineers from the Ghana Port and Harbours Authority (GPHA) dismounted the damaged Loading Arm for repair works at the Dry Dock in the hope that they will complete the repairs within one week of the commencement of work.
The incident however sparked concerns of a potential gas shortage in the system, but the NPA relied on LPG Production from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), to ensure there was no disruption to gas supply.
Also, during a working visit to the Tema Port by Deputy Energy Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, and Chief Executive of the NPA, Hassan Tampuli, the Engineers gave a firm assurance repair works would be completed on time for the Jetty to resume operations.
We wish to inform industry and the general public that repair works have been completed and the Loading Arm has been reinstalled and in full operation since 10th June, 2018.
