Otumfuo’s convoy has not been attacked – Manhyia Palace

The Manhyia Palace has clarified that viral videos alleging attacks on the convoy of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in Techiman are false.

According to information shared on social media by Asante Nation, a Manhyia-affiliated page, these rumours are not true and should be disregarded.

“Otumfuo’s convoy has not been attacked as speculated, so kindly disregard the false information circulating on some social media platforms,” the statement said.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s traditional bodyguard, Nana Kwame Amo, popularly known as Sledge Bonnah, revealed that the community attacked Asantehene’s entourage during their visit to Techiman in the Bono region.

Asantehene visited Techiman and Nkoranza to mourn the demise of Nkoranzahemaa Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani II.

In a social media post on December 2, 2024, Sledge Bonnah stated that the attack on Asanteman would be reciprocated:

“Our buses have been attacked at Techiman. Asante will strike back bigly. What you just witnessed is small,” his post read.

He added, “This is what Techiman youth did to some of our men and buses.”

Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media show people in a VIP bus, believed to be part of Otumfuo’s convoy, complaining about the attacks.

One person said, “Look at what Techiman people have done to Asanteman’s bus. We didn’t offend anybody; we just realised the attacks on us.”

Others, including a child, could be seen in viral videos injured in the attacks on the said entourage.
