The overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Oforipanin II, have declared war on arrogant chiefs as the two traditional rulers have embarked on massive shake-up exercises in their respective palaces.
Inside the Asante Kingdom in the Ashanti region, the Asantehene, has destooled two chiefs in less than one week.
Days after Asafohene and Head of the Akwamu Division, Akyamfuo Kwame Akowuah, was ousted for flouting the Great Oath of Asanteman, another received the marching orders.
Chief of Ahenkro, near Offinso, Nana Ahenkro Sei Ababio III has been sanctioned for showing disrespect to the King by defying orders barring chiefs from taking all chieftaincy and land disputes to the courts.
He was also accused of arrogating to himself an “overlord” status though he is ‘nobody’.
Asantehene who spoke through his linguist, Baffuor Osei Kwame Kantankrankyi, said Ahenkro Sei should blame his insubordination and disrespect for his predicament.
Back to the Ofori Panin Fie at Kyebi in the Eastern region, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin on Monday ousted the chief of Hemang, Osabarima Professor Mirikissi Afori Atta.
This follows complaints of uncustomary conduct and harassment of the people of Dome and Gyampomani and his unlawful claim of ownership of lands in the two villages.
The Chief of Hemang upon a petition by the people of Dome and Gyampomanin was invited to answer charges before the Kyebi Executive Council.
However, the Hemanghene disrespected the summons to appear before the Akyem Abuakwa State Council.
The Okyenhene deplored the unruly, uncustomary and disrespectful conduct of the Hemanghene. He said, the Hemanghene by disrespecting summons to appear before him has acted in breach of his customary oath and is therefore unfit to hold himself as Chief of Hemang.
