‘There’s nothing to celebrate in being number 1 on Nigeria’s streaming paltfrom’ – Burna Boy to colleagues

Grammy-award winning singer Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has stirred discussion in the music industry by cautioning Nigerian artistes about the deceptive nature of fan love on social media.
Recall that Burna Boy recently made headlines for not fulfilling his promise to buy a Lamborghini truck for Lagos-based socialite Sophia Egbueje after an alleged intimate encounter.
However, in a new development, the singer on his Instagram page called out social media fans, claiming that they are deceptive and that they won’t fill up stadiums in any part of the world for their artistes.
He advised that artistes shouldn’t focus more of their attention on the polls ran on social media apps, especially X (formerly known as Twitter)
“Dear artistes, don’t let twitter polls and “Naija social media fans” deceive you. They won’t fill up any stadium for you in any part of the world.” Burna Boy wrote.
Burna Boy also shared a comparative note of Nigeria’s music stream and that of the United Kingdom and the United States (US).
He also encouraged music colleagues to aim higher or do other businesses on the side. Noting that, being number 1 on any streaming platform in Nigeria is nothing to celebrate.
