OSP Releases 2024 Half-Year Report: Airbus SE, two cases concluded

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has issued its Half-Year Report for 2024.

According to the report signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, the office has successfully concluded three notable cases.

The report highlights suspected corruption and corruption-related offences regarding the recruitment exercise of Course 51 of Cadet Officers Training at the Ghana Police Academy.

Additionally, the investigation into alleged bribery by Airbus SE, a European multinational aerospace corporation, concerning the sale and purchase of military aircraft for the republic has been finalised.

“The Office was engaged with INTERPOL and the central authorities of the United Kingdom and the United States under the mutual legal assistance regime. The Special Prosecutor will issue directives and further action on the matter in due course,” the report, in GhanaWeb’s possession, noted.

Furthermore, the report said that investigations into suspected corruption related to the procurement and award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Gaming Commission of Ghana have also been completed.

“The Office has concluded investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of the procurement and the award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Gaming Commission of Ghana,” the report added.

It noted that the Special Prosecutor will provide directives and further actions regarding these three cases in due course.

The 2024 Half-Year Report from the Office of the Special Prosecutor outlines significant progress in combating corruption within key institutions.

With the successful conclusion of investigations into Airbus SE, the Ghana Police Academy, and the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the OSP is poised to implement further actions to enhance accountability and transparency.
