Orphan but greater than a lion: Hon. Sukparu destined for leadership
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu popularly referred to as Buoti Mahama is again seeking to represent his people in the August house for the second time. Having excel in his first term, many believe that a second term will afford him the opportunity to consolidate the gains he has made so far in representing his people in parliament.
It has not always been easy for members who enter the house to serve their first term as MPs and many thought it was not going to be different for Buoti Mahama. But latter events prove that the young MP’s four years has been more purposeful to the good people of Sissala West than the 8 years of the Nana/Bawumia government.
An orphan MP but greater than a lion. That is what he is. A few of his achievements are contained in an article published on modernghana.com titled “Sukparu: A jewel Sissala West must retain” for readers’ reference. Link attached;

The MP’s good works have been deemed to be sufficient with many in loud voices calling for his reelection. This call is not only from the majority of his constituents but also key members of the NDC including John Mahama, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, Joseph Yamin, George Opare Addo and many more.
The NDC National Chairman, Johnson Aseidu Nketia did not mince words when he said at a mini rally in Bullu; “At our party headquarters too, we also conduct our assessment based on how he behaves as a member of the party and my office is also fully satisfied that you have an MP who performed all his duties as a good member of the party.”
He proceeded to add; “finally, we commissioned researchers to come and do some work in this constituency, to advise us about how the people accept him and again all the research we have done point to the fact that he has no challenger at all in this constituency.” He urged all constituents to go out and vote massively to retain the MP because he has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he is the best for the constituency and the NDC party at large.
President Mahama on his visit to Gwollu, the Sissala West District capital, has similar praise for the MP. This raises even a more compelling reason for the MP to be retained. He gave Sissala Westerners a contract saying; “Your duty is to bring him to parliament and I will know what I would like to do to him.”
President Mahama’s assurance is consistent with the NDC National Organizer, Joseph Yamin and the National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo’s promise at Dasima and Liplime respectively that they will ensure that Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu is appointed a minister if he is returned to parliament. This opportunity cannot be risked by the good people of Sissala West.
The adage that; ‘the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know’ must be put right in the case of Hon. Sukparu that; ‘the angel you know is better than anything devil or angel or whatever you don’t know.’ We must accept the challenge of the NDC bigwigs and vote to retain the angel we send to parliament in 2020 so that we can collectively benefit from the quality leadership he is offering.
We have the reincarnation of the venerable Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemana in Buoti Mahama and Sissala West must accept their blessings. Like Amin Amidu Sulemana, Buoti Mahama will uplift the image of Sissala West and the Sissala community at large. He will plant the tree of development and we will pluck the ripe fruits to fill our bellies.
Buoti Mahama is destined for leadership and the evidence proves this fact in just four years. Imagine he been a MP with President Mahama at the helm. Sissala West will be great again and we are strongly advised not to exchange our frog for a toad. The story of a rabbit and the monkey keeping a puppy as a pet must not come true on us. When the puppy finally grows to become a dog, then the rabbit and the monkey will certainly know what they have gotten themselves into. We must not become prey to the NPP again.
If the status quo remains, we will use our knees to wipe away our tears. This must not continue. Let us vote to retain Sukparu and ensure that President Mahama goes back to the steer seat to drive us safely to our dream destination.
