One person arrested following NPP-NDC disturbances at Mamobi

The Ghana Police Service has announced that it has arrested one person in relation to the disturbances that occurred at Mamobi between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

A statement issued by the police on Monday, October 14, 2024 stated, “The Ghana Police Service wishes to assure the general public that investigations into the disturbances that occurred between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are still ongoing. So far, one person has been arrested in connection to the incident and the police are working around the clock to get all the identified perpetrators arrested to face justice.”

The political confrontation, which escalated into a violent altercation, resulted in injuries to nine individuals, escalating tensions in the community.

Seven of the injured victims have been treated and discharged, while two are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
