Okyenhene installs 40-year-old businessman as Kyebi Akwadum chief

The newly enstooled chief, Kwabena Anthony Danquah, a 40-year-old accomplished businessman, hails from the Akwadum Asona Royal Clan under the Akyem Abuakwa traditional area. He will now bear the stool name Barima Pobi Asomanin III.

The enstoolment ceremony, conducted by a delegation from the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council on behalf of the Okyenhene, marked the official recognition of Barima Pobi Asomanin III as the chief of Kyebi Akwadum after the seat remained vacant for eight years. He will undergo various traditional rituals before coronation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Okyenhene’s representative, Nana Baah Kwakye Agyemang, urged the newly installed chief to focus on uniting the youth, especially as the December 7th general election approaches. Nana Baah Kwakye Agyemang also advised the youth to avoid being lured by the desire for quick wealth.

The Okyenhene’s Akwansrahene, Nana Asiedu Bekoe, emphasized the importance of the enstoolment to Okyeman, noting that the installation of a new chief would bring unity, hope, and development to the youth of Kyebi Akwadum.

However, the Asona Abusuapanyin of Kyebi Akwadum, Twum Ampofo, raised concerns about the ongoing destruction of water bodies in the area due to illegal mining activities. Despite efforts by the Okyenhene to combat the menace, illegal mining continues to thrive. Twum Ampofo appealed to the government to create alternative job opportunities for the youth to help address the issue.
