Okyeame Quophi Vehemently Denies Domestic Violence Allegations, Cites Wife’s Eye Condition as Rumour Source

Accra, Ghana – Renowned Ghanaian rap and media personality, Okyeame Quophi, has come forward to unequivocally deny persistent rumours of domestic violence within his home, specifically dismissing claims that he has ever physically assaulted his wife, popular TV presenter Stacy Amoateng. Speaking candidly on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, Quophi addressed the sensitive topic directly, asserting, “never ever in my life” have I hit my wife, firmly debunking the circulating allegations.

During the interview, Quophi delved into a broader discussion about actions he would never countenance, including grave offenses like killing or stealing. He then shifted his focus to express palpable concern over a growing societal trend: the alarming ease with which some individuals propagate false accusations about others. Despite the gravity of such situations, he offered a calm and measured perspective on how to handle them. “But if you’re a wise person, you don’t rush to respond to such allegations,” he calmly noted, advocating for a thoughtful rather than reactive approach.

He passionately articulated the importance of unwavering self-integrity, urging individuals to always be “honest with yourself, your good character, and your principles,” especially when confronted with damaging accusations. Quophi acknowledged the inherent human tendency for people to speculate, rightly or wrongly, based on their limited perspectives and observations. However, he emphasized a personal litmus test for dealing with such gossip: “Ultimately, I ask myself if it’s true, and if it’s not, I’m good to go [about my life guilt-free].” This philosophy, he implied, allows him to maintain peace of mind amidst external noise.

Okyeame Quophi revealed that the specific domestic violence rumour had reached his ears “a million times,” which was precisely why he felt compelled to address it publicly himself. He emphatically reiterated his core message, stressing, “I can never hit my wife.”

To provide context and clarity regarding the origin of the persistent speculation, Quophi offered a detailed explanation concerning his wife’s long-standing eye condition. According to him, Stacy Amoateng has always had a recurring issue with one of her eyes, in addition to being cross-eyed – a genetic condition which, he noted, their son also shares. He clarified that it is common for her problematic eye to become infected occasionally, leading to visible discomfort or irritation.

“But in our society, if a woman is seen with blood in her eyes, it is swiftly concluded that she has been beaten by her husband. I believe that was the reason behind the rumour,” he explained, shedding light on the misinterpretation that he believes fueled the false narrative. He elaborated on the practical implications of this condition, adding, “The condition persisted for a while, leading her to wear sunglasses and use a lot of medication,” further contributing to the visible signs that might have been misconstrued by observers.

Quophi, celebrated as one-half of the iconic Hiplife group Akyeame, concluded his statement with a strong reaffirmation of his character and upbringing. He emphasized that he was raised by a respectable Fante mother, instilling in him a deep-seated respect for women. He asserted that this fundamental principle would “never allow him to abuse any woman, let alone his own wife.” He sealed his declaration with a solemn and heartfelt appeal: “May God not forgive me if I ever do that. No, I don’t do that,” leaving no doubt about his stance on the matter and his commitment to his marital vows.
